Hampstead Chorus‘ Spring term will begin on Wednesday 9th January when we will start rehearsing Nelson Mass by Haydn, Funeral music for Queen Mary by Purcell and In Ecclesiis by Gabrieli. Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays at UCS – with a break for the Easter holidays.
Our concert will take place on Saturday 27 April 2019 in the Great Hall at UCS. It will be conducted by our Musical Director, Simon Walton and accompanied by professional soloists and orchestra – as usual.
Once again, we are offering singers the opportunity to register on-line ahead of the first rehearsal and to pay by bank transfer (BACS), which will avoid you needing to find your cheque book! People on our mailing list should have received an email with details of how to register online. If you are not already on our mailing mailing list, please complete the contact form on this website and you will be sent details of how to register. Alternatively, you can come along to the first rehearsal – registration on that date will be from 7pm – and please bring money for your subscription and music (cash or cheque).
The subscription for this term will be £75, of which £60 represents the term’s fee and £15 the cost of tuition; this is equivalent to less than £6 per rehearsal.
The score of the Haydn Mass will be available for £15 – we will be using the Barenreiter edition (the same edition that we used when the choir last sang this piece in 2010). The total cost for those subscribing and needing a copy of the Haydn will therefore be £90. We will provide free photocopies of the Purcell and the Gabrieli for all singers.
It makes it much easier for us to work out how many copies are needed if you could register in advance. Music will be available at the first rehearsal.
Details of the rehearsal schedule will be posted here in due course.
