At our concert on 9 December, we performed the London premiere of James Francis Brown’s choral work, The Heavens and the Heart.  We found it a challenging sing, but the choir enjoyed his tunes, rhythms and the liveliness of the piece.

Following the concert James wrote to us:

Dear members of the Hampstead Chorus, Simon and Heather et al – a heartfelt thanks to you all for taking up the challenge of performing The Heavens and the Heart and doing it so well! I felt that it was a persuasive performance and members of the audience told me that they had really enjoyed the piece. This can only be thanks to your confidence, tenacity and musicianship and I hope you feel that it was worthwhile and what more could a composer want? I’d love to hear you sing it again one day, perhaps when you have forgiven me for the trauma of having to learn it.
