We hope you have been enjoying our weekly emails with warm up exercises and Simon’s choices of songs and Choral Classics which we have used as a means of keeping in touch with choir members. Our on-line Zoom sessions have proved popular with those who have participated and we have been pleased by how many of you have been prepared to take part. Thank you for all your support.

These activities will shortly cease for the Summer, although Simon’s instruction videos will remain available on his YouTube channel.  In normal circumstances, choir activities would take a break until September when we would recommence with our annual Choral Workshop.  However, we know now that this will not take place as the venue is not available to us for these purposes.

As we write this in mid-June, we have no clear idea on when regular choir activities will resume and in what form.  There is, at present, no clear guidance from the Government on choral gatherings and the evidence on their role, if any, in the transmission of the virus is uncertain, although choral singing has resumed in some other European countries where the incidence of the virus has reduced.  Our usual venue, University College School has only just opened in a limited way for staff and some pupils and summer holidays will soon commence.  Last, but most important, we are unsure what will be the attitude of you, our loyal singers, to meeting while there is any risk of infection.  We will, naturally, continue to monitor these developments over the Summer and update you via the website as matters, we hope, become clearer.

In the meantime, have a good summer and stay well.
